CARS OF THE YEAR 2011 IS HERE,COME VISIT GWM BOOTH
It's back
Our COTY2U Auto Show is back, and this time around, you can be assured of more cars, more bikes and more value for your RM5 admission fee (gate collection will be donated to the charity).
With over 50 new cars to be test driven and the biggest finance institution to offer a special interest rate loans, the NST Maybank COTY2U Auto Show will definitely be the car show for the people
The Chinese auto giant, Great Wall Motors (GMW), has finally reached our shores.
Green Oranges Sdn Bhd, the franchise holder here in Malaysia, will be bringing in two of their most popular models - the Haval H5 SUV and the curiously named Wingle 5 pick-up truck.
Seeing that GWM is China's largest producer of SUV's, it's no wonder that they decided to bring in these two models.
Never the less, as both models are also exported to Europe and Australia, GWM claims they are both produced to meet the higher safety and emissions standards those markets require.
The Haval H5 Suv
The Haval H5 is an SUV with a 2.0-liter Common Rail engine capable of producing 147 hp and 310 Nm of torque. It seats five comfortably and goes for RM150,000.
The Wingle pick-up on the other hand comes as either a 4x2 or 4x4 setup with a 2.5-liter Common Rail direct injection engine, capable of generating 107 horses and 300 Nm of torque.all of this, going for a paltry RM59,888 of its 4x2 variant and RM69,888 for its 4x4.
The Wingle 5 pick-up
It is no wonder that GWM decided to enter into Malaysia, business is booming for their exports.
In an interview GWM's general manager for international sales, Parker Shi, did recently with Forbes, GWM had almost achieved half of their 80,000 vehicle export goal for 2011.
According to Shi, this represents a 45% rise when compared to the same period last year.
The Hong Kong's listed compay's share price are up right now by more than 90% in the past year as sales in their domestic market rose by 24% or RM2.5 billion.
On the 22nd of this month, the company announced that their first-half profit this year would increase by more than 80%.
GWM's gains is contrasted by their closest (Chinese) rivals, shares in the the Warren Buffet backed BYD, have dropped by half in the past 12 months.
So to say that Green Oranges found their golden goose might just be an understatement.
To put things in perspective, they've shacked up with one of China's fastest rising automotive stars, who produce a relatively decent quality product that's sold at an incredibly competitive price.
If this doesn't give their competitors here the jitters, lets just say it should be.
